No country house can do without a reliable and durable fence around the perimeter of the plot. It is necessary to equip the entrance and entrance to the territory of the land plot. You can order a factory-made wicket or gate, but it is better to decorate the original entrance complex with your own hands.

And how to do it correctly, what materials can be used, you will learn from our article.

Article Summary:

Material for making wickets

Constructing a fence on the territory of the dacha, it is necessary to think in advance about what will be the entrance. Solving this issue will help to make your fence a single composition, made in the same style.

You can provide a freestanding wicket, as well as design its location next to the gate for the car. Often homeowners arrange a complicated design – a gate with a wicket built into it.

A variety of materials can be used to make them. There is a possibility of combining and decorating them. The most common solutions can be found in the following ways:

  • Installation of profile pipe with a covering of Rabitz chain-link mesh – a simple, but not too original and aesthetically attractive way of arrangement;
  • Construction of a solid metal frame with cladding durable profiled sheeting with possible decoration with additional decoration;
  • Elegant wood construction;
  • prestigious wrought iron wicket, which not only has a long service life, but also has a unique appearance;
  • Combination of different materials.

The appearance of such products, the advantages and disadvantages you can see in the presented photos of the gate. There are many options for arrangement, each dacha owner makes a decision based on his own wishes and style of design of the countryside landscape.

Designing a structure

The door leading into a private lady’s yard can open in either direction. However, it is recommended to design in such a way that it still opens inward. So you do not have to think about the possibility of injury to a guest or just a passerby. Especially if the fence stands close to a driveway or walkway.

To ensure the protection of the house and the safety of the occupants, the hinges must be covered as a matter of course. At the same time, the lock on the wicket must be securely fastened.

The size should be as convenient as possible for the person passing by, as well as for people bringing in, for example, pieces of furniture or building materials. That is why it is recommended to design the width of the structure not less than 750-1000 mm. Pillars do not have to take into account. But the height of the door should be approximately 1,8-2 m.

But you should take into account the features and dimensions of the fence itself, so that the composition looked as natural as possible. Many novice craftsmen make a mistake and make calculations based on the attachment of the leaf to the poles closely. This is wrong. There should be a gap between them:

  • From the hinges 6 mm;
  • in the direction from the ground not less than 8 mm;
  • on the other sides more than 2 mm.

Classic wood option.

Making a wooden wicket with your own hands is easy enough. The material used is perfectly amenable to construction manipulation, and the resulting design will always look original. In addition, it is easy to decorate. But it is desirable that the fence itself was made of similar material.

First the supports are made. For this you need to prepare asbestos pipes. The sidewalls, on which the wicket will be attached, can be made of pine. After the boards are aligned vertically, they must be fixed to the supports with self-tapping screws.

The frame should be assembled from pre-painted boards. All elements are attached to the corners. Brass strips and self-tapping screws are used for fixing. Toothed metal plates will provide greater rigidity.

Hinges are fixed to the support frame. If the frame fits well into the opening, you need to make a strut and fix it to the base. The frame is attached to the hinges. After that, put sheathing boards. To do this, self-tapping screws are used. Corner strips require a stronger attachment in three self-tapping screws. Then the latch and handle can be made.

A wood wicket can also be installed as follows:

  • A profile tube is cut, from which a frame is arranged by welding, followed by sanding;
  • hinges are attached;
  • boards are laid out on the frame, holes are drilled and then bolted down;
  • The wicket is hinged, primed and varnished.

Using profiled sheeting for gates

If you want your gate to serve you for decades, preserving its original appearance, you should pay attention to such a material as corrugated board. He also has such advantages:

  • high durability;
  • corrosion resistance;
  • ease of installation;
  • resistance under the influence of ultraviolet light.

To quickly and efficiently make a wicket from corrugated board, you should be guided by the following order of action:

  • Erection of supporting poles
  • Making a frame frame by welding from 60×30 mm profile pipe. In the center, a lintel must be welded, on which the sheets will be attached.
  • Using self-tapping screws, the profiled sheeting is attached to the frame. Screwing is done through each wave. It is recommended to fix at three levels – at the bottom, at the top and in the middle.
  • The trimmed wicket is attached to the supports on the hinges.
  • Fixing of the lock or latches.

Forged decoration.

Wrought iron wickets, radiating nobility and antiquity, will help to decorate the interior of the countryside. To make them yourself, you will have to do a little work.

In addition, you will be required to have additional equipment – vise, anvil, horn, welder, and cold-head forging machines.

Our instructions on how to make a wicket will help you:

  • Draw a sketch of the design;
  • bind all the elements separately from each other;
  • The procedure for forging is this – heat the dummy, crimp, billet, and then finish in final form;
  • Prepare shaped decorative patterns;
  • connect the profiles into a rectangular frame;
  • Weld the base elements to the fabricated frame;
  • Grind off all the seams;
  • secure the door to the point-type hinges;
  • Clean, prime, and paint the surface of the structure.

Forged version of the decoration of the fence will be not only an original completion of construction on the site, but also a great protection for the house. Swinging wickets with forged elements are especially popular in combination with metal fence frames.

Metal construction with Rabitz netting

Convenient and durable version of the gate with a canvas of Rabitzia is often used by dacha owners who do not want to spend too much on the arrangement of the fence. This design is quite easy to install, does not require complex maintenance, can be used for a long period of time.

However, there are certain disadvantages associated with the low level of noise insulation. In addition, it will be difficult to hide from prying eyes, there will be no barrier against the penetration of debris on the site.

Once you have created a sketch, made a calculation of the consumption of material and fittings, prepared tools, it is necessary to proceed to the installation of the metal wicket:

  • Cut the profile pipe according to the required dimensions;
  • Assemble the frame with a welding machine;
  • Attach the hinges;
  • install the grid to the frame and fasten it to the frame;
  • Hang the sash;
  • Install handle, padlock;
  • sand, prime and paint the structure.

When you independently produce a beautiful wicket according to your own sketch, it will not only perform its main purpose, but will become the real pride of the master. Additionally, it can be decorated with decorative elements – an arch, a pergola, a canopy. The interior of the country house will only benefit from your original solutions.
